Hungry Heidelberg go through with a sharp 0-4 win over Adelaide Comets.
It was a beautiful night down at Adelaide Shores in South Australia for the FFA Cup match up between the hosts, Adelaide Comets and Heidelberg United.
It was an intense and physical battle between the two sides, in true NPL club fashion.
Comets started on the front foot, with Nathan Andijanto almost opened the scoring as he blitzed past but just missed the target.
Against the run of play, Heidelberg drew first blood through Reuben Way.
Alex Schiavo extended his sides lead in the 34th to 0-2 by arriving at the back post to tap home for a commanding lead before half-time.
Andijanto had another chance for Comets, this time to try and peg a goal back but sent the ball wide despite having plenty of time and space, with two teammates in perfect positions to switch the ball to.
There were a few wasted chances by Comets, and it’s not the FFA Cup without a red card with Ibby Kamara sent to the stands after just being substituted on.
In a piece of beautiful build-up play, Heidelberg continued to dominate as they went up 0-3, while Comets continued to struggle up front.
With no mercy, the visitors went up by four in the 85th minute from the spot and right down the middle by Tom Cahill for the icing on the cake.
