NEWY AND GLORY! A match where the tables turned for the Perth Glory, after 27 wins and only 8 defeats, this match added one more lost to the glory, making it 9.
Perth started off strong, running circles around the Jets and just nearly scoring very early on. But just going wide of the posts.
After Perth line themselves up for a corner kick, it’s like Tarek Elrich has miraculously turned into David Beckham and curves a ball in, that very well almost goes straight into the net but unluckily hits the cross bar.
The pressure turns on the Glory shortly after, with a tussle for the ball, a fight for possession, a belter of a cross, a panic in the box, a rebound which all led to a f*cking THUNDER OF A KICK FROM TOPAR – STANLEY FROM OUTSIDE THE BOX!
FIrst goal to the Jets, and one to add to the list for contender of the goal of the week, if not the season. We even had Italiano run out from his box to celebrate!
The only thing to save Glory’s confidence after that belter of a goal, is a penalty from a hand ball.
With fingers crossed that the VAR doesn’t stop working and shut off again, at this homeground, Glory are given the pen and score, making it levelled again at 1 – 1.
After the second half starts, we see the start of substitute and new man (yet familiar face) Bernie ibini, who returns to Straya as a Jets boys, and not in Skyblue.
Almost scoring from the cross and just missing, O’Donovan is not to far away to recover with a tap in to put the Jets in front to win the match at home.
A final chance to collect some point, Fornarolli musters one last ahot but it’s Jets Keeper, Italiano, who comes to the rescue for his side, with cat like reflexes.
The final whistle goes and the Jets end up sending their fanbase into a euphoric winning frenzy, and send the Glory back to Perth with 0 points.
What a turn of the tables for Popa’s side in Royal Purple, aye? 10th taling the absolute piss out of 2nd place.
The A-league, unpredictable af. I love it.
